How featured results work

Some employers pay to be featured in quiz results. Here is exactly how that works, so you can always tell what is paid.

The rules

What featured means on VC Careers

Who can buy it
Employers who are members on the Quarterly, Monthly and Weekly tiers can add a featured placement. Being a member does not make an employer featured.
Only when it fits you
A featured employer shows up only when it hires for one of your top five career types. If it does not fit you, you never see it.
Always labeled
The card always carries this label, exactly: Featured employer
One at most
A results page shows one featured employer at most. It comes first in the employers section, never in your career matches.
Never ranked as a match
Your career types come from your answers and public job data, never from who pays. A featured employer is never shown as one of your matches.
Taking turns
When more than one featured employer fits, they take turns. Each results page shows one of them at most.
How the other employers are ordered
Below the featured card come members, then basic listings. In each group, employers with a site in your part of the county come first if you told us where you live, then employers that hire for more of your career types.
School sessions
When a student starts from a school link, the same rules apply.
What we count
We record which featured employer a results page showed, so we can count appearances and clicks. A quiz session has no name, email or other way to tell who took it.
