For Ventura County schools
One free career quiz for every campus in the county.
We want VC Careers to be the standard career tool in every Ventura County school: one quiz, every campus, free for students and schools. Students get careers that fit them, real local pay and the employers here who hire for them.
The County proposal is being written.
The problem
Students choose by accident, then leave
Most students pick a career without seeing what is out there. Many leave Ventura County to find work, while employers here look for people to hire. A short, honest quiz that names local jobs, local pay and local programs can change that.
For your campus
What your school gets
- A campus link. Students start at vccareer.com/s/your-code, and their quizzes count toward your campus.
- Totals for your campus. How many students finished the quiz each month and which career types came up most. Never anything about one student.
- Zero cost. Free for students and for schools.
- No student accounts and no personal information. Students never sign up, and the quiz never asks for a name or email.
Planned, not built yet
A counselor results view and printable packs for each campus are planned. They are not built yet.
For the County and VCOE
What the County and VCOE get
The same totals across the county, by district and by campus, and a direct line from classrooms to the employers who hire here.
- County-wide interest totals by district: which career types students lean toward, never who.
- A direct pipeline from classrooms to local employers, public and private.
- A standard every campus can adopt in a semester, with no accounts to set up.
Who we are asking
- County of Ventura Board of Supervisors
A letter of support for one career quiz in every county school.
- Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE)
A spring pilot with 5 campuses, then adoption as a VCOE-recommended tool.
- Workforce Development Board of Ventura County (WDBVC)
A letter of support for one career quiz in every county school.
What we ask
Three steps to a county standard
- Step 1
A letter of support
A short letter from the Board of Supervisors and the Workforce Development Board that backs one career quiz for every campus.
- Step 2
A spring pilot with 5 campuses
Five schools use their campus links for a semester. We share the totals with each school.
- Step 3
Adoption as a VCOE-recommended tool
After the pilot, VCOE recommends VC Careers to every district in the county.
Privacy
Built so a district can sign off
Students use VC Careers without telling us who they are.
- No accounts. Students never sign up or sign in.
- No identifiers. A quiz session keeps the answers, the results and the school code. It has no name, no email, no IP address and no browser details.
- A school code is a campus, not a person. The campus link saves only the code in a cookie for 90 days, so the quiz knows which school it is.
- Never sold. Student data is never sold. Only the companies that run the site for us handle it.
- Paid placement is always labeled. Featured employers carry the label Featured employer and appear only when they hire for one of the student's top career types. When a student starts from a school link, the same rules apply. How featured results work
